Early life and background
Anil Kurien Antony was born on 17 December 1985 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He comes from a Syrian Christian family; his father is senior politician A. K. Antony and his mother is Elizabeth Antony, a lawyer. Anil grew up in Kerala and later pursued engineering and graduate studies, completing a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering Trivandrum and a Master of Science at Stanford University.

Career
Anil has built a career that spans technology entrepreneurship, corporate roles and public-facing policy and communications work. Early in his career he co-founded Torque Technology Solutions in Trivandrum in 2005, a mobile value-added services venture. In 2008 he moved to the United States and took on roles that included a product marketing internship at Cisco in San Jose and a marketing manager position at Beceem Communications. He later worked in business development at Alphavista Services Inc. and has served as an advisor to Casper Labs in California.

Returning to India, Anil worked as a business consultant with Grant Thornton in New Delhi. He founded Pythia Data Private Limited in May 2015 and has held directorships in companies such as Helius Education Private Limited and Sqanda Capital Investments Private Limited. His corporate experience also includes associations with Swarna Milk Foundation and Transglobal International Private Limited.

Anil’s public-facing work includes co-founding Parliamentarians with Innovators for India (PII) in April 2020, a national action group formed during the COVID-19 pandemic. In these roles he helped establish and run state-level digital operations, including a war room for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and managed digital campaigns for the Wayanad constituency.

On 24–25 January 2023 he resigned from his party posts with the INC, citing disagreement and hostile responses within the party following his public comments about an international documentary. A few months later, in April 2023, he changed his political affiliation and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

His participation includes the European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP2021), the Australia-India Youth Dialogue (AIYD2020), the Indo-German Young Leaders Forum (IGYLF2019) and the JENESYS Future Global Leader program in 2017. He has also taken part in multi-track dialogues on security and foreign policy in Germany and Israel, and in 2022 he was selected as a fellow of the School of Policy and Governance Net Zero Fellowship program.
