Anil Dujana was born Anil Nagar in Dujana village in Uttar Pradesh around 1980. He belonged to a Gurjar family and was known locally by other names including Anil Singh. Physical descriptions list him at roughly 170 cm (5'7") with black hair and black eyes.

Dujana became widely known for his involvement in organized criminal activity across parts of Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region. Reports link him to a range of offences over many years, including allegations of murder, contract killings, robbery, extortion, dacoity and rioting. At various points authorities described him as a leading figure in regional gang networks and sometimes compared him to better-known underworld figures.

Early legal troubles date to his early twenties, when he was implicated in a murder probe in Ghaziabad. Through the 2000s and 2010s he was repeatedly named in high-profile cases: accused in murder and weapons offences in 2002; connected to a triple murder case that reportedly led to his arrest in January 2012; and arrested later that year in relation to the killing of a Muzaffarnagar trader.
