Anil Gupta was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) and grew up in the city where he attended Dr Antonio Da Silva High School in Dadar. He pursued formal art education at Sir J. J. School of Art in Mumbai and later earned a Bachelor in Computer Graphics in the United States in 1991. Photography is one of his personal interests.
