Early life and background

Aniruddh V Dave was born on 21 July 1986 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and grew up in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He attended Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jaipur and later studied at Rajasthan College, Jaipur, where he completed a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). His parents were involved in education: his father, Vitin Kumar Dave, worked as a teacher, and his mother, Rajul Dave, taught Sanskrit and cultural activities at a Kendriya Vidyalaya. He has an elder sister named Pridhi Dave.

While still young, Dave became active in theatre and street plays. At 19 he received recognition for his social-awareness work through theatre and nukkad nataks organized by The Bharat Scouts and Guides, a commendation that came in the form of a Rashtrapati Award.

Career

Dave launched his television career in 2008 with the lead role in the serial Raajkumar Aaryyan. He transitioned into film the following year, appearing in the 2009 movie Teree Sang. Over the years he has maintained a presence across mediums, working in stage productions, television serials, films and music videos.

On stage he has been involved in a number of productions, including international pieces and adaptations such as Rashomon, as well as plays titled Haye Mera Dil, Man Without Shadow and Jaat Na Pucho Sadhu. His theatre background has remained a through line in his career, informing his screen work and his approach to performance.

Television credits span a variety of Hindi serials. Dave’s TV appearances include Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Y.A.R.O Ka Tashan, Patiala Babes, Lockdown Ki Love Story and Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. He also stepped behind the camera in 2021 as a director on the crime-based show Jurm Aur Jazbaat.

On the big screen he has taken supporting roles in several Hindi films, including Shorgul (2016), Chhoriyan Chhoron Se Kam Nahi Hoti (2019), Pranaam (2019) and Bell Bottom (2020). His work in Chhoriyan Chhoron Se Kam Nahi Hoti earned him the Best Debut Actor award at the Rajasthan Film Festival in 2019. During the filming of Shorgul he performed a high dive stunt from a reported height of 120 feet for a scene, reflecting a commitment to practical performance.
