Ankita Bansal was born on 26 February 1990 and raised in New Delhi. She attended Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, and went on to study at Ansal Institute of Technology in Gurgaon where she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration between 2009 and 2012. Her family includes her father, Ram Bansal, and her mother, Rashmi Bansal. Ankita’s younger sister, Gayatri Mallika Bansal, is both a sibling and a business partner.

Career

After college Ankita began her professional career in the corporate sector. She worked at GE Capital in Gurgaon as a credit underwriter beginning in November 2012. In July 2014 she took a role as a marketing executive at Country Inn & Suites by Carlson in Gurgaon, leaving that position after about five months. In March 2015 she joined Creative Marketing Fix as an account manager and later moved into brand management in the fashion and retail e-commerce space, taking a position at PostFold in April 2016.

In August 2017 Ankita and her sister Gayatri co-founded THERE!, a Delhi-based denim brand. The sisters built the business without formal design training, applying lessons from business school and their own interest in fabric and trends. They positioned the label as a direct-to-consumer brand by launching on Shopify to create an online storefront and reach customers through e-commerce channels.
