Ankita Lokhande was born Tanuja Lokhande on 19 December 1984 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Raised in a middle-class Marathi family, she completed her schooling and graduation in Indore before moving to Mumbai to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Sporty in her youth, she competed in badminton at the state level and developed an early interest in performance and dance.

Ankita’s television breakthrough came in 2009 when she debuted as Archana Deshmukh in Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta.
