Early life and background

Anastasiya Hamolka was born on 23 May 1994 in Minsk, Belarus. From an early age she gravitated toward performance: her mother enrolled her in a dance group when she was seven, and she trained in Indian classical and Bollywood dance. As a teen she travelled for competitions across Europe and beyond, visiting countries such as Lithuania, Bulgaria, Egypt and Poland. She has described skating and dance as long-standing passions and picked up Hindi by watching Bollywood films.

At fifteen she earned a scholarship to study at the New York Film Academy but was unable to take it up because of a visa issue. In 2010 she first visited India for a friend’s wedding and ultimately remained to study acting in Delhi. She later continued formal acting training at the East 15 Acting School in Loughton, United Kingdom.

Career

Performing under the stage name Anna Ador, she launched a career spanning film, web series and theatre. Her film debut came in 2016 with the Punjabi historical picture Saka: The Martyrs of Nankana Sahib, in which she played Susan. That same year she took leading screen roles in regional cinema, including the Gujarati film Passport, where she learned Gujarati in a short time for her part, and appeared in films such as Fredrick and Udta Punjab.
