Anny Divya was born in 1987 in Pathankot, Punjab, and raised in a family that later made Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, her hometown. Her father served in the Indian Army for 19 years and took voluntary retirement. Her mother is Padmini. She has a brother, Anne Mahesh, and a sister, Pria Anne, who is a dentist. Divya attended Kendriya Vidyalaya in Satyanarayanapuram and Nalanda Educational Institutions before moving on to higher education at K L University in Guntur.

Career

Divya pursued formal pilot training at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) in Raebareli. She completed her training at around 19 years of age and joined Air India in 2006. Early in her career she trained on the Boeing 737 in Spain for about two years and later received training on the Boeing 777 in London.

Over time she advanced to the rank of captain and operates international flights, having flown to more than 30 countries. In July 2017, at age 30, she became the world’s youngest female captain of a Boeing 777 aircraft. Her work centers on commanding long-haul international services aboard large wide-body jets.
