Anshul Kuncha was born in 1998 and grew up in Gundlapochampally in the Medchal–Malkajgiri district of Telangana, India. He completed a bachelor of technology in Chemical Engineering at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) in Hyderabad. During his time in Hyderabad he volunteered with the Blue Cross of India, working on welfare efforts for stray dogs.

Career
After finishing his undergraduate degree, Kuncha began his professional career in India. He worked as an Operations Analyst with Jio Platforms Limited in Hyderabad and later joined Amazon India in Bangalore as a Senior Product Compliance Analyst in December 2021.

In 2022 Kuncha moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies. He enrolled at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business in Philadelphia for a master’s program in Business Analytics from 2022 to 2024. While at LeBow he received the LeBow Alumni Merit Scholarship and completed projects that used Python and statistical methods, including a capsized carrier cost analysis and a financial statement analysis of The Hershey Company. In 2024 he joined Echo Hospice as a Data Management Coordinator, where his work involved healthcare data management and administrative analytics. In May 2025 he took a position at DataBank IMX in Pennsylvania as a data validation analyst.

She also told media that he had experienced a prior robbery in the United States in which his chain, phone, and cash were taken, though she said he had not previously faced a life-threatening attack.
