Early life and backgroundAnudeep Katikala was born and raised in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh. He studied at IIT Bombay and completed a B.Tech. in Energy Science between 2013 and 2018. He holds Indian nationality and follows Hinduism. Personal details reported publicly note that he is unmarried.
Career
Katikala began his professional life in the corporate world after graduation, taking a role as a process analyst at udaan.com in Bengaluru from August 2018 until May 2019. He later moved into product work, serving as an Associate Product Manager at Infinity Learn in Hyderabad from September 2021 to July 2023.
Alongside his corporate roles, Anudeep built a career in stand-up comedy. He started the Silly South Comedy Club in Hyderabad in March 2023 as a platform for himself and other comedians to perform regularly. He organized and hosted shows across Hyderabad and Bengaluru, developing a presence in regional live comedy circuits. One of his stage productions, The Tollywood Roast Show, focused on satirical material about the Telugu film industry and became particularly popular with audiences.
Katikala has also appeared on television; in June 2024 he featured on a show called Comedy Nights that aired on ETV Telugu. His material has included satirical takes on celebrities and social topics, and he has produced videos of his stand-up performances that circulated on social media.
Public profile
Anudeep’s comedy often targets high-profile figures and cultural topics within South Indian film industries. Over time he performed material about several well-known actors, and some of those routines attracted strong reactions. In April 2026, a series of viral clips prompted multiple formal complaints from political party members and supporters after jokes addressing the personal lives of certain South Indian actors and public figures. Protests and complaints followed in several locations, and at one point Katikala was detained by police in Prayagraj while he was with his father.
Following the public backlash, he issued an apology video in which he said he did not intend to hurt people’s feelings and described the intention behind his work as a critique of toxic fan culture. In that apology he also expressed concern about attacks on friends and associates that occurred while he was absent from the city.
Katikala’s body of work includes roast-style shows and other stand-up sets that have provoked debate about the limits of satire and the responses of fans and public figures to comedy.
Personal interests
Outside of performance and his earlier corporate roles, Anudeep enjoys travelling, playing cricket, and acting in his free time. Physical details noted in public profiles describe his eye colour as black and that he is bald.
