Anuj Sachdeva was born on 5 October 1984 in Delhi, India, and grew up in the city where he completed his schooling at N C Jindal Public School. He earned a BA (Hons) in History from Delhi College of Arts and Commerce and later trained in performing arts at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.
