Early life and background

Anupriya Kapoor was born on 26 November 1991 in Punjab, India, and grew up in Delhi. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Delhi University. During her childhood her parents separated, and she was raised by her brother and grandmother. Academically and in extracurriculars she was a high achiever at school.

Career

Kapoor began her career behind the camera, working as a senior executive producer with television producer-director Gajendra Singh. In that role she contributed to reality shows including Voice of India, Waar-Parivar, and Junoon. In 2010 she moved to Mumbai with her brother Vyom when he participated in Voice of India, and she transitioned into acting that year.

Her on-screen debut came with a role in Miley Jab Hum Tum, and she is best known for portraying the character Taani in the TV serial Tere Liye. That performance earned her recognition early in her acting career, with both an Indian Telly Award and an Indian Television Academy Award for best debut actress for Tere Liye. She has since appeared in a variety of Hindi television series, including Rishta.com, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, and Daayan. In 2013 she co-hosted an episode of Yeh Hai Aashiqui alongside Shakti Arora.

Kapoor and Varun first met while working together in 2015 on the set of the serial SauBhagyalaxmi; the professional relationship later developed into a personal one.
