Early life and background

Anuradha Iyengar was born on 10 September 1992 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Raised in a middle-class family in the city she calls home, she began learning Bharatanatyam at a young age. Her formal dance education continued at the Nrityangan Academy of Fine Arts in Mumbai, where she completed a Bharatanatyam degree in 2015.

When she was a child her interest in dance deepened and she explored multiple styles beyond classical Bharatanatyam, developing into a versatile performer. By her late teens she took on responsibility for supporting herself and her younger sister following the death of their parents in 2009, which led her to start working as a freelance choreographer.

Career

Anuradha’s television breakthrough came in 2015 when she competed in the fifth season of Dance India Dance on Zee TV. She reached the show’s top 15 and performed as part of the team led by Mudasar. Her stage work on the show drew attention and helped launch her profile on the reality TV circuit.

After DID she transitioned into mentoring and choreographing on several high-profile dance series. In 2019 she served as a mentor on Super Dancer, guiding contestant Jayshree into the show’s top 12.
