Anuradha Patel was born on 14 March 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Raised in a family with strong ties to Indian cinema, she is the maternal granddaughter of actor Ashok Kumar and the grandniece of Kishore Kumar. Her mother, Bharati Jaffery, worked as an actress, and her father is Dr. Veerendra Patel. She grew up in Mumbai, attended St. Anne’s High School and later studied at St. Xavier’s College, where she earned a degree in interior designing.

Career

Anuradha Patel began her onscreen career in 1983 with the Hindi film Love in Goa, playing the role of Marina D’Souza. Through the mid‑1980s she appeared in a string of Hindi films, including Utsav (1984), Phir Aayee Barsaat (1985), Dharm Adhikari (1986), Sadaa Suhaagan (1986), Ijaazat (1987) and Rukhsat (1988). Her performance in Ijaazat earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1987.

Alongside Hindi cinema, Patel worked in regional films: she gave a special performance in the Marathi film Eina Mina Dika (1989) and appeared in the Marathi film Manvini Bhavai (1994). After the late 1980s she increasingly moved into television, commercials and modelling work, appearing in television serials such as Chhapte Chhapte (1985), Katha Sagar (1986), Mrs. Mukhamantri (2019) and briefly in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000) and Dekho Magar Pyaar Se (2004).

Her later film credits include appearances in Dus Kahaniyan (2007), Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008), Aisha (2010), It’s My Life (2010), Ready (2011), Khaap (2011), Rabba Main Kya Karoon (2013) and Dhantya Open (2017). In 1987 she founded the Dynamic Finishing Academy, an institute focused on personality development, public speaking, grooming and confidence building.

Public profile

Patel has been a familiar face in Indian advertising, featuring in commercials for brands such as Samsung, Aashirwad Atta, Milton and PC Chandra jewellers. At one point she appeared alongside her grandfather Ashok Kumar in a toothpaste advertisement. In 2018 she received a Perfect Achievers Award related to her personality development classes.

Her family life has also been visible in media accounts. She married actor Kanwaljit Singh in 1988, and the couple have two sons, Sidharth and Aditya. They have also welcomed Mariam Singh Barakzoy into their family; media coverage has described Mariam as an additional member of the household who they assisted and supported. Patel is step‑sister to Genevieve Jaffrey, and through family connections is related to actress Kiara Advani.
