Aparna Murli Shewakramani was born on January 5, 1985, in Houston, Texas. Raised in that city, she completed undergraduate studies at Rice University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Policy Studies and Anthropology in 2007. She went on to receive her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2010.

Career

After law school, Shewakramani built a career as an attorney in Houston. In February 2012 she joined Phelps Dunbar LLP as an attorney and remained there through February 2014. She then worked as counsel for Scientific Organics from February 2014 until January 2017.

In January 2017 she moved to Lewis Brisbois, serving as a lawyer until May 2019. That spring she took a role as general counsel at Insgroup, Inc. in Houston, a position she held beginning in May 2019 and through October 2019.
