Early life and background

Apurva Nemlekar was born on 27 December 1988 in the village of Satwantwadi in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra. Raised in Dadar, Mumbai, she attended King George School in Dadar and later studied at D. G. Ruparel College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mumbai, where she completed a BMS degree. She has a brother named Omkar Nemlekar and is the daughter of Subhash and Supriya Nemlekar.

Career

Nemlekar began her working life outside the entertainment industry, taking a role in event promotion after finishing her education. She made her television debut in 2011 with the Marathi series Aabhas Ha, playing the character Aarya. The following year she made her film debut in Bhakarkhadi 7 km and also appeared in several Hindi films including Ishq Wala Love, The Accidental Prime Minister, Sab Kushal Mangal, and Mixer.

On television she continued to build her profile with lead and supporting roles. In 2013 she played Pooja in the Star Parvah show Aradhana, and in 2015 she appeared in the Marathi film Tu Jivala Guntavave as Soumya. Nemlekar is best known for portraying Shevanta in the supernatural thriller series Ratris Khel Chale 2 on Zee Marathi in 2019, a part that brought her significant recognition. She reprised the role in subsequent seasons and also played a character named Pummy in Tuza Maza Jamtay from November 2020 until February 2021.

Her time on Ratris Khel Chale included a period of dispute with the production and channel; Nemlekar left the series in October 2021. For the Shevanta role she reportedly gained weight to meet the character requirements and later received the Zee Best Actress award from Zee Marathi in 2021 for her performance.

Beyond television and film, Nemlekar has an active theatre background. She has appeared in plays such as Aalay Motha Shahana, Choricha Mamla, and Iblis. She received a Best Actress award in a comic role from Natya Parishad for Aalay Motha Shahana. She has also worked in episodic crime dramas, including episodes of Crime Patrol and Savdhan India.

Entrepreneurship and other work

Nemlekar designs jewellery and runs a business called Apoorva Collections, which produces and sells handmade pieces. She serves as a brand ambassador for the Indian jewellery firm Jagannath Gangaram Pednekar.
