Aravelly Avanish Biography

Young Indian wicket‑keeper batter from Hyderabad who rose through age‑group cricket to India U‑19 and Chennai Super Kings.

Early life and background

Aravelly Avanish Rao was born on 02 June 2005 in Hyderabad, Telangana. Raised in a cricket‑loving household, he developed an early interest in the sport watching matches with his father. His parents are Laxman and Sushma Aravelly, and he has a sister named Anvitha.

Avanish’s cricket journey began in childhood when, at age nine, his father enrolled him at the Hindi Maha Vidyalaya Cricket Academy. He progressed through Hyderabad’s local structure and came up through age‑group competitions organized by the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

Career

A left‑hand batter who also keeps wicket, Avanish established himself in the Hyderabad youth setup. He represented the state in Under‑14 and Under‑16 competitions, captained the Hyderabad Under‑19 side, and produced several notable innings at junior level.

In 2019 he made headlines in the Vijay Merchant Trophy Under‑16 tournament, posting a big score against Chennai. His performances in domestic age‑group tournaments continued, and in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2023 he accumulated 274 runs across six innings.

Avanish’s breakthrough on a larger stage came in a quadrangular Under‑19 series in November 2023, when he played a match‑winning innings of 163 off 93 balls while representing India’s List A Under‑19 side. That knock featured 12 sixes and earned him the player‑of‑the‑match award after he guided his team from a precarious position to victory.

He made his List A debut for Hyderabad on 29 November 2023 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Services in Jaipur. Following strong showings in junior international tournaments, Avanish was selected in India’s squad for the U‑19 Asia Cup and later named as the wicketkeeper‑batsman in India’s team for the ICC Men’s U‑19 World Cup 2024.

In the professional domestic and franchise circuit, Avanish plays for Hyderabad and was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League auction for a reported Rs 20 lakh, wearing jersey number 2 for the franchise.

Public profile

Avanish’s playing style is built around powerful left‑handed hitting combined with wicketkeeping duties. He cites MS Dhoni as his cricketing idol. Physical details recorded in his profile include an approximate height of 5'11" (180 cm), with black hair and black eyes. He is listed as unmarried and follows Hinduism.

Latest updates

By mid‑2024 Avanish had transitioned from standout performances in age‑group cricket to representing India at U‑19 global events and earning an IPL contract. His rapid rise through Hyderabad’s system to national youth squads and the IPL reflects his role as a promising young wicketkeeper‑batter emerging from Telangana.

As he continues in domestic and franchise cricket, attention will focus on how his aggressive batting and wicketkeeping skills translate into senior-level consistency and opportunities beyond youth international tournaments.
