Early life and background
Archana Padmini, born Ammu, grew up in Manjeri in the Malappuram district of Kerala. She studied at Manjeri Unity Women’s College and went on to complete a master’s degree in English literature at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam. Her mother is Padmini KP, who worked as an anganwadi teacher, and she has a brother named Abhishek KP.

Career
Archana has built a multifaceted career in cinema as an actor, assistant director and film curator. She made her screen debut in the 2016 English-language film With Her, credited simply as "She." Since then she has appeared in a number of Malayalam-language projects: the drama Vith (2017); the drama-documentary When Two Kiss (2017), in which she played Achu and also served as an assistant director; Nayuttu (2021), in which she portrayed a singer; Ela Veezha Poonchira (2022); and the Indian English-language film Wonder Women (2022), in which she played the role of Gracy.

Beyond acting, Archana has experience behind the camera. She worked as an associate director on the 2019 Malayalam film Oru Rathri Oru Pakal and has credits as an assistant director on documentary work. Her involvement in film extends into festival programming and curation: in 2018 she was a founding member of Minimal Cinema, a production company and festival platform, where she serves as president and film festival curator. She has worked as a curator, moderator and coordinator at regional and international film festivals. In 2020 she acted as a moderator at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival, and she served on juries for Prathidhwani Qisa Film Festival in 2021 and for discussions at the 2022 FETE International Short Film Festival.
