Early life and background
Arshdeep Singh Aulakh was born on 5 February 1999 and grew up in a family that settled in Kharar, SAS Nagar (Mohali). He attended Guru Nanak Public School in Chandigarh and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Chandigarh University. Cricket featured in his household: his father played district-level cricket in Gurdaspur in his youth and later worked in the Central Industrial Security Force before taking a private security post to support Arshdeep’s training. Arshdeep began playing competitive cricket as a child and progressed through local and state age-group teams while training at the Jaswant Rai Academy in Chandigarh.

Career
Arshdeep is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-fast bowler. He rose through Punjab’s age-group setup, representing Punjab Under-16, Under-19 and Under-23 sides, as well as India Under-19 Red. A breakout phase came in 2017–18 when strong performances in domestic age-group competitions earned him a place in India’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He was part of the World Cup–winning India team and used the platform to accelerate his domestic and franchise career.

He made his List A debut for Punjab in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy and shortly after entered the Indian Premier League when Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) signed him in the 2019 auction. Arshdeep made his IPL and overall T20 debut for Kings XI Punjab on 16 April 2019. He played his first first-class match for Punjab in December 2019 during the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy.

In the IPL, Arshdeep developed into a frontline pace option. At the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia he took 10 wickets in six matches, and he was part of the Indian side that won gold in the cricket competition at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
