Arushi Nishank was born on 17 September 1986 in Kotdwar (then part of Uttar Pradesh, now in Uttarakhand). Raised in Dehradun, she is the eldest child of Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Kusum Kanta Pokhriyal. She has two younger sisters: Captain Dr. Shreyashi Nishank, who serves in the army, and Vidushi Nishank, who pursued legal studies.

Arushi completed higher studies that included time at the University of Cambridge and holds a postgraduate management qualification (PGDM). She follows a vegetarian diet and lists Indian nationality. Her listed height is approximately 1.61 m (5'3"), with hazel green eyes and brown hair.
