Arvind Akela, popularly called Kallu or Akela, was born on 26 July 1997 in Buxar, Bihar. He grew up in a middle-class farming family and spent his childhood participating in musical programs in his village. Music was a part of family life: his father, Chunmunji Chubey, worked as a folk singer and also worked as a producer and director, and he trained Arvind in music from an early age.

Arvind attended a local high school in Buxar. Raised in a household that observed Hindu traditions, he is an ardent follower of Lord Ganesha. From his youth he admired and emulated established Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh.
