Early life and background

Arya Rohit was born on 13 September 1990 in Palkulangara, Kerala, and grew up in Thiruvananthapuram. She attended Holy Angels Convent School in Thiruvananthapuram. From an early age she showed an inclination toward performing — training first in classical dance before branching into western, cinematic and semi-classical styles. Her interest in acting began while she was still in school and led to early television work.

Career

Arya’s on-screen journey began as a teenager when she appeared in the Amrita TV crime series Officer while she was in class 12. She later took part in the dance reality programme Nestle Munch Stars, and went on to appear in a number of Malayalam television serials including Sarayu, Ishtam, Kana Kanmani and Action Zero Shiju. A comic role in the popular Asianet show Badai Bungalow helped raise her public profile.

She made her film debut in Malayalam cinema with Lailaa O Lailaa in 2015. Since then she has featured in several Malayalam films, among them Thoppil Joppan, Adventures of Omanakuttan and Ganagandharvan. Beyond acting, Arya has worked as a television presenter and hosted events and award shows such as Chill Bowl, Taste Time, Yuva Awards and the Vanitha Film Awards.

Arya runs a designer boutique called Aroya in Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram.
