Early life and background
Asad Abbas was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan, in 1985 into a family with deep musical roots. His paternal grandfather, Mohammad Sadiq, was recognized as an important figure in Pakistani folk music, and music featured prominently in the family across generations. Abbas later made Lahore his hometown.

Career
Abbas began his public career in music through televised competition. He entered the singing reality program Sangeet Icon in 2008 and emerged from that beginning as a notable presence on the Pakistani music scene. In 2010 he became the lead vocalist for the Sufi rock group Mekaal Hasan Band, a role he held until his departure from the band in 2011.

His profile rose further when he contributed vocals to the song 'Mahi Gal' during Coke Studio season 6 in 2013, a performance that brought him wider recognition. In 2014 he performed at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards ceremony in Tampa, Florida, representing Pakistani musical talent on an international stage.

Outside of those highlights, Abbas released the album Yadaan in 2018 and recorded several devotional and folk-inflected tracks across the following years. Songs credited to him include 'Lori Sunawan Aa Asghar' (2020), 'Laal Shah Mushahdi Da Dar' (2020), 'Aae Darbar Mein Zainab' (2021), 'Ya Ali Apko Mana Jay' (2022), and 'Woh Ghar Jahan Hukm Jahan' (2022). Reports from that year indicated that both of his kidneys had failed and that a prior transplant attempt had been unsuccessful. He died on 15 August 2023 in Lahore; reports list his cause of death as double kidney failure. He was 38 years old at the time of his passing.
