Ashesh L Sajnani was born on 19 October 1978 in Mumbai and grew up with an early interest in hospitality. He completed his junior college at R. A. Podar College in Mumbai in 1996 and pursued a diploma in Hotel Operations and Management at Hosta Hotel and Tourism School in Leysin, Switzerland, graduating in 1998. His formal hospitality training set the foundation for a career spent building restaurants, cafes and food-service brands.

After returning to India, Ashesh began working in the hotel industry and took on managerial responsibilities early in his career. In 1999 he served as managing director at Hotel Jewel of Chembur in Mumbai. Over the years he has held directorships and partnerships across several hospitality and related companies, including roles at Bholenath Developers Limited, Opa Hospitality Private Limited, Royal Western (India) Hotels Pvt. Ltd, Mitha Estates Pvt Ltd and Basant Rubber Factory Private Limited.
