Ashim Kemson was born on 27 May in Ludhiana, Punjab, where he grew up and attended Wylie Memorial High School. He later pursued a diploma in sound engineering at a college in Delhi. Music played a part in his upbringing: he began practising guitar as a teenager and regularly played in his church on Sundays.

Career

Kemson’s professional life spans composing, singing, lyric writing and acting. Early in his career he worked with T-Series and opened a self-titled YouTube channel in 2011 where he began uploading videos of his songs. He has also been associated with the music studio Dungi Entertainment for several years.

His first film credit as a singer came in 2013 with the song “Yaara Tu” from the film Rangeelay. Since then he has contributed as a lyricist, composer and vocalist across a range of projects. In 2019 he provided a brief on-screen appearance in the Hindi film Kabir Singh, appearing as a beggar and singing “Fakir Jatt Daa.”

In 2023 Kemson worked as lyricist, composer and singer on the Hindi song “Haiwaan” from the film Animal. He has also been credited as a lyricist and singer on other films, including Harami (2020).

On television, Kemson has composed music for series such as A Day in the Life Of (2017), Regiment Diaries (2018) for Epic and Crimes and Confessions (2021) for Epic. He has contributed songs or vocals to TV series including Soulmates (2018), Baarish (2019) and Regiment Diaries (2022).

As a composer he has worked on short films as well, with credits on projects like Heroes (2020) and Good Night Sleep Tight (2021). His commercial work includes composing background scores for advertising campaigns, among them spots for Prayag Pipes and SBI.
