Career
Ghani built a varied career as an academic, international development professional and public servant. He taught at multiple universities over the years, including Kabul University (1973–77), Aarhus University in Denmark (1977), the University of California, Berkeley (invited in 1983), and Johns Hopkins University (1983–1991). He also participated in leadership training programs at institutions associated with Harvard, INSEAD and the World Bank–Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Before returning to Afghanistan at the end of 2001, Ghani worked with international organizations such as the World Bank and held posts at the United Nations.
