Ashwini Koul was born on 1 September 1993 in Delhi, India. Raised in his hometown of Delhi, he completed his schooling up to the 12th standard. He enrolled in a B.Tech program but left after the first year. Known familiarly as Ash, and by nicknames such as Tunnu and Ashu, he stands about 1.73 m (5'8") tall with brown eyes and black hair.

Koul’s first television exposure came through reality programming. He appeared on MTV Splitsvilla in seasons 6 and 7 (2013 and 2014), a stint that preceded his move into acting.
