Early life and background

Atul Kasbekar was born on 22 April 1965 in Mumbai, where he grew up and later made his professional base. He attended Campion School and enrolled in chemical engineering at UDCT (now the Institute of Chemical Technology) but left after the first year to pursue photography. He continued his photographic studies at the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California.

Career

Kasbekar began his independent career in photography in 1991 when he launched his studio, Negative Space. Over the following decades he built a reputation as one of India’s prominent fashion and commercial photographers, establishing a long-standing association with the Kingfisher Calendar. He photographed more than ten editions of that iconic calendar, shooting in locations including Mauritius, Thailand, South Africa, Australia, the French Riviera, Goa, Andaman, Ladakh, Udaipur, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka.

In 2007 Kasbekar expanded into celebrity management with the founding of Bling Entertainment Solutions. Through that venture he partnered with national and international brands across advertising and celebrity campaigns, representing an array of actors and public figures for endorsements and projects.

Kasbekar has also worked in film production. As a producer he was involved with the 2017 film Neerja, which received the IIFA Best Picture Award and was honoured as the National Award winner for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
