Early life and backgroundAuritra Ghosh was born on 7 August in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and grew up in Delhi. She completed her schooling at Mater Dei Convent School in Delhi and went on to study at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. Alongside academic studies she trained in dance—Kathak is a core part of her foundation, and she is also trained in jazz, ballet, modern and contemporary styles.
Her upbringing included musical influence: her father, Asitkumar Ghosh, worked as an engineer and her mother, who played the sitar, is deceased. Auritra has a sister, Monishita Ghosh.
Career
Auritra’s professional life spans dance, theatre, film and digital media. Early in her career she served as principal dancer, instructor and choreographer at The Danceworx from 2001 to 2009, and during that period she represented India at an international dance festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands. She later worked as a visiting consultant and faculty member at Split Sole Dance Academy in Mumbai (2009–2015) and taught at the Terence Lewis Professional Training Institute (2010–2014).
She made her film debut in 2011 with the Bollywood feature Love Breakups Zindagi, portraying the character Gayatri. Subsequent film appearances included roles in M Cream (2014) as Maggie and Dharam Sankat Mein (2015) as Shraddha Pandya. In 2022 she appeared in the Hindi romantic drama Chitrakut as Saloni.
On screen she has been visible beyond feature films: in 2013 she acted in the short film Reunion for a Google India advertisement, and in 2014 she appeared in the MTV TV film Shaadi Vaadi And All That as Aahana Kapadia. Auritra transitioned into digital series with roles in A.I.SHA My Virtual Girlfriend (2016) as Kriti and in the Y-Films web series Ladies Room the same year. She was cast in the English-language medical drama Good Karma Hospital (2017) in the role of Manisha, and in 2019 she appeared in the science fiction web series Holycross as Dr. Rhea.
