Early life and background
Avesh Khan was born on 13 December 1996 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He grew up in the city where he attended Advanced Academy, Indore, and later completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Renaissance College of Commerce and Management in Indore. Raised in a family that includes his father Ashique Khan, a financial manager, and his mother Sabiha Khan, Avesh also has a brother, Asad Khan, and one sister. He began playing tennis-ball cricket at a young age and joined the Indore Colts Cricket Club when he was 14.

Career
Avesh is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who bats right-handed. He moved through the state age-group system, representing Madhya Pradesh at Under-16, Under-19 and Under-23 levels, as well as playing for Indore at junior levels. He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy and has been part of the Madhya Pradesh senior side since 2014.

His early promise was recognised with selections for India Under-19 squads, including appearances at the 2014 and 2016 Under-19 World Cups. He has also played for India Under-19 Green and represented India Red and other select teams in domestic competitions. Avesh spent time at the National Cricket Academy in 2015 and has played for the Indian Board President’s XI and a County Select XI.

In franchise cricket, Avesh entered the Indian Premier League when Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him in 2017. He made his IPL debut on 14 May 2017 for RCB. Subsequent IPL stints included Delhi Daredevils (later Delhi Capitals) from 2018 through 2021, and Lucknow Super Giants from 2022. In the 2024 season he was traded to Rajasthan Royals.

Internationally, Avesh made his Twenty20 International debut for India on 20 February 2022 against the West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He earned his One Day International debut on 24 July 2022 against the West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain. He was part of the Indian side that won the gold medal at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. In December 2023 he featured for India A against South Africa A and claimed a five-wicket haul.
