Early life and backgroundAvi Arunbhai Barot was born on 25 June 1992 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Raised in his hometown, he developed into a promising young cricketer and went on to represent several state sides in India. He stood about 165 cm tall (approximately 5 feet 5 inches) and was noted for his black hair and eyes. Outside cricket, he enjoyed reading novels and travelling.
Career
Barot was a right‑hand batsman who kept wicket and could bowl right‑arm offbreak. At the junior level he featured for Gujarat Under‑19s and was involved with India Under‑19s. In domestic senior cricket he played for Gujarat, Haryana and Saurashtra during his career.
He made his List A debut for Gujarat in a match against Maharashtra at Vadodara on 10 February 2011. His first‑class debut came later that year for Gujarat against Delhi at Valsad from 10–13 November 2011. Barot also appeared in domestic T20 competitions, with one listed appearance in Mohali on 1 April 2014 and a later match in Indore on 19 January 2021.
Across formats he played in 38 first‑class matches, 38 List A fixtures and 20 domestic T20 games. He was part of the Saurashtra squad that won the Ranji Trophy in the 2019–20 season. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021 he produced a particularly eye‑catching innings, scoring 122 off 53 balls in a domestic T20 match.
