Avika began working in entertainment as a child. Her television debut came in 2008 with Raajkumar Aaryyan, and she made her first film appearance in the 2009 movie Morning Walk. She achieved nationwide recognition through her portrayal of Anandi in the long-running television drama Balika Vadhu.
