Early life and background

Azaan Sami Khan was born on 22 May 1993 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Raised in a family with deep ties to the performing arts and public life, he is the son of singer-composer Adnan Sami and actress Zeba Bakhtiar. His upbringing included time spent in India with his father, and later he chose to remain in Pakistan during his late teens. Azaan attended The Indus Academy in Karachi before moving to the United States to study at Belmont University in Nashville, where he completed his graduation.

Career

Azaan works across music and acting. He made his debut as a music composer for the Urdu feature film Parwaaz Hai Junoon in 2018. Earlier, he contributed as a co-producer and co-writer on the Urdu film O21 in 2014 and served as an assistant director on the 2019 Hindi film Kalank.

As a composer he has created scores and songs for a number of Urdu films and television dramas. In 2019 he composed music for films including Parey Hut Love and Superstar. His television credits as composer include Hum TV dramas such as Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay (2021), Ishq E Laa (2021) and Kuch Ankahi (2023). His work on Ishq E Laa earned him a nomination in 2023 for Best Emerging Talent in TV at the 22nd Lux Style Awards.

In addition to composing, Azaan has pursued a career as a singer. He released a music album titled Tu Hai Mera in 2020 and has lent his voice to albums and singles including Main Tera (2022) and Azaan (2023). He plays several instruments, including piano and guitar, and in 2021 launched a self-titled YouTube channel where he uploads songs and music videos.
