Mohammad Azam Khan was born on 14 August 1948 in Rampur district, Uttar Pradesh. He studied law at Aligarh Muslim University and completed his LLB (Hons.) in 1974. Before entering full-time politics he practised as a lawyer.

Career

Azam Khan’s political career spans several decades and multiple parties, but his electoral base has remained centred on Rampur. He has been elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly eight times, each time from the Rampur constituency, making him one of the longest-serving MLAs in the state.
