Rajaji Ramanadha Babu Gogineni was born on 14 April 1968 in Hyderabad, Telangana. Raised in a family where his father worked as a farmer, he completed his schooling at Little Flower High School in Hyderabad and went on to study at Nizam College and Osmania University. His academic record includes multiple degrees and diplomas: a B.A. in Science, a B.A. in Human Rights and International Law, an M.A. in Human Rights, an M.A. in Sociology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade. He also attended Pondicherry University and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan's Institute of Communication and Management in Mumbai.

Babu Gogineni began his working life as a certified French language teacher at 17. He later moved to the United Kingdom in 1997 to join the International Humanist and Ethical Union and subsequently built a career focused on human rights, rationalism and advocacy. Over the years he has held leadership roles in several organisations dedicated to secularism and ethical culture, working as an executive director, joint secretary, vice-president and secretary general in different capacities for groups that promote humanism and rational thought.

He founded regional and national initiatives, including the South Asian Humanist Association and Indian Humanists, and established Skillguru. His activity has combined organisational leadership with public outreach: he has been a regular campaigner on issues such as untouchability and superstition, spoken at universities and organisations worldwide, and acted as a visible spokesperson for humanist and rationalist causes.
