Early life and background

Aditya Yanamandra, known professionally as Baladitya, was born on 9 March 1985 in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. Raised in Chennai during his formative years, he attended Ramakrishna Mission School in Chennai and later studied at Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar High School in Hyderabad. He went on to Nalanda Junior College in Hyderabad and completed a graduation in law.

Baladitya grew up in a family with links to the arts and public service. His father is Yanamandra Subrahmanya Shankar and his mother is Kalyani. His paternal grandfather is Y.V.Y.V. Murthy and his maternal grandfather, Mokkapati Narasimha Murthy, was a teacher and a freedom fighter. He has a brother, Srikrishna Kaushik, who is also an actor.

Career

Baladitya entered the entertainment world at a very young age and started acting as a child. He made early appearances in regional films across languages, including Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. One of his best-known child roles was Sunny in the Telugu film Little Soldiers, and he also won Nandi Awards for Best Child Actor for Anna (1994) and for Little Soldiers (1996).

Transitioning from child artist to lead roles, he made his debut as a lead actor with the Telugu film Chantigadu in 2003. Over the years he has appeared in a variety of Telugu features such as Keelu Gurram, Vamsam (in which he played Chinna), Roommates, Sandhya, Veta, Jajimalli and Entha Manchivaadavuraa. The period film 1940 Lo Oka Gramam, in which he portrayed Suri, received the National Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.

Baladitya has worked in television as well, hosting Champion Season 3 on ETV and performing in serials across networks. His TV roles include Shivayya in Shambhavi (2018) on Star Maa, Rajadurai in Rasaathi on Sun TV, Krishna in Subhadra Parinayam on Gemini TV, and Balraju/Galiraju in Savitramma Gari Abbayi on Star Maa. He has also appeared in web series such as Gods of Dharmapuri (G.O.D) in 2020 on ZEE5, Unheard on Disney+ Hotstar in 2021 as Dr Chalapathi, and the film Maa Oori Polimera (2021) which is available on Disney+ Hotstar.

Outside acting, Baladitya pursued professional qualifications and roles in corporate compliance. After stepping back from full-time acting around 2010, he completed company secretary coursework, trained at JRK Associates in Chennai, and later joined Aikyam Corporate Services in Hyderabad as a partner. He has served as a company secretary and compliance officer at Banka BioLoo Limited. Alongside his corporate work, he has taught financial management to chartered accountancy students, delivering classroom tuition and online coaching.

Baladitya has also contributed creatively as a lyricist and composer, writing Telugu songs for projects such as the web series Adi Padam (2021) and the film Kalapuram (2022).

Baladitya is married to Manasa Lakshmi; the couple wed on 7 August 2016. They have two daughters, Jaithra Varenyya (born 18 January 2018) and Yagnya Vidhathri (born 18 August 2022). Baladitya lists photography, travelling, watching films and listening to music among his interests.
