Early life and background
Bandi Saroj Kumar was born on 13 November 1989 in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Raised in Andhra Pradesh, he identifies as Indian by nationality and follows Hinduism. His upbringing in that region shaped his early interest in film and the performing arts.

Career
Kumar’s career spans multiple roles in film production. He has worked as a director, writer, editor, music composer and cameraman on his projects. His first credited directorial work in Tamil cinema was Porkkalam in 2010. He went on to write the Tamil film Asthamanam in 2012.

Over the following decade Kumar continued to make films in various capacities. He made his Telugu debut as an actor, director, writer, producer and musician with Nirbhandam in 2020. After earlier theatrical releases struggled commercially, he shifted strategy by acting in his own projects and releasing some work on YouTube, which brought him greater recognition.

Two of the titles that raised his profile as an actor are Nirbandham 2 (2021) and Mangalyam (2022). In 2024 he wrote, directed and acted in Parakramam. In 2025 he appeared as Inspector Nolan in The World of Mowgli; the film’s first teaser was released in August 2025.

Public profile
Kumar’s public image is built on his multi-disciplinary involvement in filmmaking and a growing presence on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. His on-screen work and activity online have both contributed to his following. Personal details that are part of his public persona include his height, around 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm), black hair and black eyes.

Personal life
Kumar married Kavitha Rajan, a lawyer, in 2012; the marriage ended in divorce, with the union lasting until 2016. Public records list his marital status as divorced or separated. He is also an animal lover and often shares photos of his pet dog on social media. Kumar is occasionally seen smoking cigarettes.

Latest updates
In 2025 Kumar publicly expressed frustration over how his role in The World of Mowgli was being presented in promotional material. He posted and later deleted a message saying he had worked without pay for eight months at a director’s request and alleging that comments about him had been removed from promotional content while the film’s hero was being pushed. That episode created tension around the film’s promotional campaign later that year.

Kumar remains active in writing, directing and acting, continuing to release projects and engage with audiences on digital platforms.
