Early life and backgroundBejoy Nambiar was born on 12 April 1979 in Mumbai and grew up in the city he calls home. He attended Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s Vidya Bhawan and Gokuldham High School & Junior College in Mumbai. For higher education he enrolled at Dr D Y Patil’s Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Navi Mumbai but left engineering early. Following that period he completed a graduation and later pursued an MBA in the United Kingdom.
As a young man he gravitated toward theatre and joined a theatre group during his college years, where he directed a play titled Getaway. He also spent time in Los Angeles on an eight-week internship with producer Ashok Amritraj, an experience that preceded his transition into filmmaking.
Career
Nambiar began his screen work with short films and made his directorial, writing and producing debut with the Hindi short Reflections in 2005. That early work led to feature- film opportunities; he wrote and directed the Hindi thriller Shaitan, which released in 2011 and brought him broader attention. His career since has encompassed multiple roles — director, writer, producer and occasional actor — across films and streaming projects.
He has worked in different language industries and formats. In 2017 he wrote, directed and produced Solo, a film released in Malayalam and Tamil. His film and series credits include David (2013), Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi (2014, as producer), Wazir (2014, as director), and Karwaan (2018, as writer). He also directed the short film Soap in 2014.
