Benjamin Joseph Levin, known professionally as Benny Blanco, was born on March 8, 1988, in Reston, Virginia. He grew up in a household where music became a lifelong pursuit from an early age. As a child he began making beats and recording at home, and by his preteen years he had already won a songwriting contest and attracted industry attention. Blanco spent time at Camp Airy in Thurmont, Maryland, where he performed frequently and hosted a radio program under a childhood nickname.

His parents are Andrew Mark Levin and Sandra Beth. Blanco comes from a Jewish family and later moved to New York to further his craft, attending the Institute of Audio Research.
