Betta Naan Stop (Prateek Sachdeva) is an Indian drag performer, dancer and model from Noida. Trained in dance and musical theatre, she rose to prominence—r

Early life and background

Prateek Sachdeva, who performs under the name Betta Naan Stop, was born on 30 April 1995 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a household that included an elder sister, Prateek describes early years marked by introversion and a private interest in female clothing and makeup. Family support, particularly from his mother and sister, played an important role as he explored performance and gender expression.

Prateek completed formal education in hospitality and hotel administration, earning a BSc from IHM Bengaluru. He is Indian by nationality and identifies as queer. When performing in drag, Betta Naan Stop uses she/her pronouns; when presenting as Prateek, he uses he/him pronouns.

Career

Dance has been central to Prateek’s artistic life from a young age. He began by giving private dance classes in his local area and later joined The Danceworx Performing Arts in New Delhi as an instructor in May 2014. His work there led to a scholarship for additional training in Melbourne, where he studied musical theatre and trained in disciplines including ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance.

Prateek’s exposure to drag culture occurred during time spent in Australia, where attending his first drag show and meeting established performers influenced his creative direction. On returning to India, further inspiration came from performances he watched at local events and from drag figures such as Violet Chachki. Encouraged by his sister, he taught himself makeup techniques and developed his drag persona.

His initial public drag appearances included a performance at a sex-education workshop at St. Columbus School in Delhi and participation in queer workshops, where he performed dance routines to contemporary pop music. A written piece he contributed about drag to Youthkiawaaz drew attention from Keshav Suri and led to performance opportunities at Kitty Su, the club chain run by the Lalit Group. Kitty Su became a key venue in Betta’s rise; she has performed at their events and at other queer nightlife stages.

Throughout his early career, Prateek also worked outside the arts at times to make ends meet, including brief stints in corporate roles and at a call centre. Over time, however, he consolidated his focus on drag performance, dance and modeling, using his platform to encourage others to be proud of their identities.

Betta Naan Stop blends dance, theatricality and fashion into a distinctive stage persona. She is known for elaborate looks and performances and has developed relationships within India’s drag community; she describes Lush Monsoon as a drag sister and counts other Indian performers such as Sushant Divgikar (Rani KoHEnur) and Maya among her inspirations. Betta expanded her presence online with a self-titled YouTube channel where she posts content ranging from singing to makeup tutorials. She has also appeared as a judge in a video on the Ok Tested YouTube channel. In 2019, she adopted 2 November as the official birthday of her drag persona.
