Early life and background
Bhaskar Majumdar was born on 17 January 1972 in New Delhi, India. He grew up in the same city and later pursued multiple formal and short-term educational programmes in communications, marketing and public policy from institutions in India and abroad. His formal studies include a Bachelor of Arts from the Central University of Himachal Pradesh and postgraduate and executive courses from schools such as MICA, Indian School of Business, National University of Singapore and Harvard Kennedy School, among others.

Career
Majumdar’s professional journey in communications began in 1999. Over the next two decades and more he held roles across agencies, broadcasters, corporate communication functions and consulting firms. Early positions included accounting and consultancy roles with Communication Management Consulting Group and Genesis PR, followed by communications assignments at Vaishnavi Corporate Communications. He moved into sports media in 2005 with ESPN STAR Sports as manager of communications and events, and later worked with APCO Worldwide and Reliance Industries in senior communications roles.

He returned to Vaishnavi in a senior capacity and then joined Adfactors PR as a Senior Group Head. In April 2020 Majumdar took on the role of Head of Marketing Communication, CSR & Digital for India and South Asia at Egis India Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd., where his responsibilities encompassed corporate and brand communication, digital communication, CSR, internal communication, employee engagement and relations with industry bodies.

Over his career he was involved in a range of campaigns and initiatives that earned recognition from industry juries.
