Early life and background
Bilal Musharraf was born on 17 October 1972. He grew up in Pakistan, attended Military High School and Fauji Foundation College, and later studied at Cadet College Hasanabdal. His higher education includes an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science and postgraduate studies that culminated in an MBA and an MA in Education. He is the elder son of former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Sehba Musharraf.

Career
Bilal’s early professional experience was in actuarial work. From 1994 until 2000 he held analyst and then senior analyst roles with the Automobile Insurers Bureau. He moved into employee benefits consulting in the Greater Boston area, working at Willis Towers Watson from 2000 to 2004 on financial aspects of benefit plans for large corporations.

In the mid-2000s Bilal’s career shifted toward international markets and management. He worked in the UAE as an assistant manager assessing investment opportunities, then completed an MBA and undertook an internship in China conducting supply-and-demand research for the New Hope Group. Returning to the United States, he served as a vice president with ePlanet Ventures from 2007 to 2009.

From 2014 to 2016 he was Director of Operations at One Market Capital, L.P., managing aspects of long/short equity funds in frontier markets. He joined Edmodo in 2016 as Director of Strategic Partnerships, developing relationships with schools and telecommunications partners worldwide. In 2019 he was promoted to Vice President of Global Strategy and Business Development and spent a year based in Singapore.
