Biswapati Sarkar was born on 22 September 1988 in Rourkela, Odisha, India. Raised in a middle-class family with an engineering background, he completed his schooling at Delhi Public School in Rourkela and went on to study at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He holds a Master of Science degree. As a youngster he participated in Bengali stage plays, an early indicator of his interest in performance and storytelling.

Career

Sarkar began his professional life as a scriptwriter before joining the digital entertainment company The Viral Fever (TVF) in 2012. TVF was founded by his college senior Arunabh Kumar, and Sarkar became a central creative force at the company, eventually serving as creative director.

He is widely recognized for creating and hosting the satirical celebrity talk-show series Barely Speaking with Arnub, a character-driven program that lampooned television punditry. The show became an internet phenomenon and has accumulated millions of views on YouTube. Guests on the program ranged from film stars and musicians to public figures and politicians.

Beyond hosting, Sarkar has writing credits on several of TVF’s notable web series, including Permanent Roommates, The Making Of..., and Shuruaat Ka Interval. His work contributed to the company’s reputation for producing scripted web content that appealed to young urban audiences in India.
