Early life and background

Burak Deniz was born on 17 February 1991 in Istanbul, Turkey, and grew up in İzmit. He attended 50. Yıl Cumhuriyet Primary School in İzmit and later studied at Gazi Anatolian High School in Ankara. For higher education he enrolled at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He is an only child. His father, Teoman Deniz, died in 2020.

Career

Deniz began his onscreen career with television, making his TV debut in 2011 on the series Kolej Günlüğü in the role of Onur. Over the following years he took supporting parts in several Turkish dramas, including roles in Sultan, Medcezir (an adaptation of The O.C.), Tatlı Küçük Yalancılar (the Turkish take on Pretty Little Liars), Böyle Bitmesin, Kaçak and Gecenin Kraliçesi.

His breakthrough came in 2016 when he was cast as Murat Sarsılmaz in Aşk Laftan Anlamaz, a performance that brought him widespread recognition both in Turkey and internationally. The series was later distributed in dubbed or retitled versions in multiple countries, increasing his profile abroad.
