Campbell Wilson was born in 1971 and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. He completed tertiary studies at the University of Canterbury, earning a Masters of Commerce (Honours). He also took an executive-level Global Strategic Management course at Harvard Business School as part of his professional development.

Career

Wilson began his aviation career in 1996 as a management trainee with Singapore Airlines in Auckland. Over the following years he progressed through a sequence of commercial roles within the carrier, including sales development, regional marketing and sales management posts across Australasia.

By June 2006 he was serving as Vice President for the Canada region. He later moved to senior general management roles in Asia, becoming General Manager for Hong Kong in June 2008 and subsequently General Manager for Japan.

In May 2011 Wilson was appointed chief executive of Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. He left that role in June 2016 to return to Singapore Airlines in a senior commercial capacity as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where his remit covered merchandising, global sales, pricing, distribution, e-commerce, and branding and marketing for SIA's overseas offices.

Wilson resumed the CEO role at Scoot in April 2020. In May 2022 he stepped down from Scoot and was appointed CEO and Managing Director of Air India by Tata Sons. The Tata chairman described him as an industry veteran with experience across global markets and functions, and Wilson spoke of his honour at leading the airline and his eagerness to help build Air India into a world-class carrier offering products and services that reflect Indian warmth and hospitality.
