Cezanne Khan was born on 28 December 1977 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He grew up in Mumbai and completed his schooling at Barnes School & Junior College in Deolali. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from M.M.K. College of Commerce & Economics in Mumbai. His father is sitarist Ustad Rais Khan and his mother is Tasnim Khan. He has a brother, Sohail Khan, who is a musician.

Career

Cezanne Khan began his television career in the late 1990s. His acting debut came with the Zee TV serial Hasratein (1997/1998), in which he played a character named Yogesh. He followed that with roles in series such as Neena Gupta’s Pal Chhin (1999), appearing as Rajesh.

His breakthrough came when he was cast as Anurag Basu in Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms production Kasautii Zindagii Kay, the StarPlus family drama that ran from 2001 to 2008. Cast opposite Shweta Tiwari as Prerna Sharma Basu, Khan’s portrayal of Anurag made him a household name and brought him widespread recognition. The show itself became one of StarPlus’s longest-running serials and featured an extensive soundtrack over its run.

Khan earned several television awards for his work during this period, including the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actor – Popular for Kasautii Zindagii Kay, the Indian Telly Award for Best Jodi (shared with his on-screen partner), and the Indian Telly Award for Best TV Personality – Male.

Beyond Kasautii, Khan appeared in the anthology thriller series Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat in 2002, playing Kunwar Sujit Singh in a special segment. He also expanded his career internationally, working in Pakistani television and in productions for Middle Eastern audiences. In 2006 he made his Pakistani television debut with the ARY Digital drama Piya Kay Ghar Jana Hai, a series that was also broadcast in India. Khan returned to Indian television in 2009 with the Maqbool Khan–directed series Seeta Aur Geeta on NDTV Imagine, playing the character Ravi in a run that lasted several months and totaled a large number of episodes.
