Chandrashekhar Virupakshappa Angadi, popularly known as Chandrashekhar Guruji or ManavGuru, was an Indian Vastu consultant, TV personality and businessman.

Early life and background

Chandrashekhar Virupakshappa Angadi was born on 8 August 1964 in Bagalkote, Karnataka. He completed secondary schooling and later earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering followed by a doctorate in architecture. As a young man he aspired to join the armed forces, but did not clear the selection process on account of his physical profile.

After completing his formal education he moved to Mumbai in 1989 and worked as a civil engineer in the construction industry. In time he launched his own construction business. Financial setbacks in the late 1990s prompted him to rethink his professional direction and, after a period of reflection, he began to combine his architectural training with the principles of Vastu.

Career

In 2002 Chandrashekhar founded CG Parivar Private Limited, which became the parent organisation for several ventures including C G Parivar, ManavGuru, Saral Vaastu, and CG Parivar IT Solutions Private Limited. Under these banners he developed services spanning Vastu consultancy, astrology-related guidance and IT solutions such as consulting, digital marketing and content development. ManavGuru grew to have offices outside India, including in the USA, Singapore and Canada.

He became widely known through the TV program Saral Vaastu, a show that aired on multiple regional channels across Kannada, Gujarati and Marathi markets. Around the same period he expanded into digital media, launching a YouTube channel titled Saral Vastu in 2014 where he shared Vastu tips aimed at addressing problems related to construction, business, education, health, relationships and wealth. His channel garnered a following of over twelve thousand subscribers.

Chandrashekhar also launched ventures and products intended to make Vastu guidance accessible through technology. In 2017 he released the Saral Floor Planner app to capture home layouts for analysis and a Saral Vaastu mobile app for ongoing guidance. In 2016 he started the Kannada info-entertainment channel Saral Jeevan, focussing on non-fiction programming about mythology, history, travel and cultural insights.

Alongside his media and technology activities, he held directorships in a range of companies. In January 2013 he became a director of A1 Polytrade & Mfg Private Limited, and he served in leadership roles at C Guruji Infrabuild Private Limited, CG Parivar Solutions LLP and C G Parivar Foundation And Research Centre.

A consumer complaint surfaced in 2019 when a client alleged financial loss after following guidance and purchasing items recommended by Saral Vaastu; the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission dismissed the claim on the grounds that outcomes such as growth and prosperity are subjective and not quantifiable as compensation claims.

Chandrashekhar was married. He was the son of Virupakshappa Angadi and Neelamma Angadi and was commonly referred to by followers and associates as Chandrashekhar Guruji or ManavGuru. He stood approximately 175 cm tall and had black hair and black eyes.

On 5 July 2022 Chandrashekhar Guruji was killed at a private hotel in Hubballi district, Karnataka.
