Chello Meme Biography

Chello Meme (real name Bara Atey) is an Indian social media creator and performer from Kurung Kumey, Arunachal Pradesh. She rose to national attention fora

Early life and background

Bara Atey, known professionally as Chello Meme, was born in 2002 in the village of Chello in Kurung Kumey district, Arunachal Pradesh. She grew up in that region and completed schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Lakhimpur, Assam. For higher studies she attended Union Christian College (UCC) in Umsaw Khaw Barapani, Shillong, and later Rajiv Gandhi University in Rono Hills, Doimukh.

During her student years, Chello represented Arunachal Pradesh at the National Youth Parliament in New Delhi after winning a state-level Youth Parliament competition. That experience and her early public-speaking exposure helped shape the outspoken, performance-oriented persona she later brought to social media and television.

Career

Chello Meme built a following as a social media influencer, sharing comedic and relatable videos on platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn. A viral moment in 2021 amplified her visibility: a video showing her confronting a man at the ISBT in Guwahati gained wide attention after she said she had been inappropriately touched while travelling to New Delhi for the National Youth Parliament.

At the National Youth Parliament she spoke on themes including Aatmanirbhar Bharat; that speech was later shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which further increased her national profile.

Over time Chello continued posting humorous short videos and grew a loyal audience. In 2024 she became known among followers for joking about her fondness for Pepsi; the brand later sent her a hamper containing Pepsi cans, a sipper and a branded T-shirt.

In August 2026 Chello took a step into mainstream entertainment by appearing on the fifth episode of India’s Got Latent season two. Her act was a rap about Northeast India that confronted stereotypes and racism directed at people from the region. On the show she exchanged banter with host Samay Raina and responded wittily to the panelists. Archana Puran Singh, Nishant Puri and Sharon Verma awarded her perfect scores, Samay Raina gave a lower mark, and Chello rated her own performance highly — a combination that led to her winning the episode.

As the episode’s winner she received the prize of Rs 1 Lakh, two AI Nova+ smartphones and 50,000 coins on the District app. Her appearance on the show sparked strong online reaction, with viewers praising her confidence and comic timing. Following India’s Got Latent, her Instagram follower count reportedly rose from around 77,000 to approximately 231,000 as of 31 August 2026.

Public profile

Chello Meme’s public image blends activism and comedy. Her early viral video confronting inappropriate behaviour and her later speeches at youth forums positioned her as someone willing to speak out on social issues. At the same time, her social content leans into humour and everyday relatability, which has helped her build a broad fan base across social platforms.

She is known to enjoy travel and exploring new places, and her content often reflects a playful, candid voice. Physical details noted in public listings include black eyes and light ash-brown hair.

Latest updates

In 2026 Chello’s national visibility increased significantly with her India’s Got Latent appearance and the resulting growth in her online following. The show win and the online response that followed marked a notable milestone in the transition from regional influencer to a performer recognized on a national entertainment platform.

Her career continues to blend social commentary, comedy and performance, and she remains active across multiple social channels where she shares videos and engages with fans.
