Chetan Chaudhary Biography

Chetan Babulal Chaudhary is a 22-year-old student and entrepreneur from Kondhwa, Pune. Known locally for his family grocery business and a dry fruit shop,.

Early life and background

Chetan Babulal Chaudhary was born in 2004 and raised in Kondhwa, a neighborhood of Pune in Maharashtra. He comes from a family that runs Dhanashree Traders, a wholesale and retail grocery business operating at the Gultekdi Market Yard in Pune. His father is Babulal Chaudhary, who is described as a businessman.

Chetan completed his schooling in Pune and went on to study for a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). While still a student he worked in the family grocery business, gaining early experience in retail and wholesale operations.

Career

Alongside helping in his family’s trade, Chetan later launched his own dry fruit business during his college years. He is identified in public records as both a student and an entrepreneur. The available information highlights his involvement in small-business activity rooted in the local markets of Pune.

Public profile

Physical descriptions available in public records note that Chetan has black eyes and black hair. He is listed as unmarried and practices Hinduism.

Chetan’s interactions in the community included cricket; he played in local matches and received recognition such as prizes for performances. It was through cricket connections that he first got to know Siya Goyal, who attended matches to watch her elder brother Sahil play. The two met again later at a Diwali party in 2025 and subsequently entered into a business partnership.

Legal matters and police allegations

In June 2026 Chetan became the subject of widespread media attention after his arrest in connection with the death of Ketan Agarwal, who died after falling from Lohagad Fort on 18 June 2026. Authorities reported that initial accounts of an accidental fall gave way to a criminal investigation after Ketan’s family raised concerns.

Police records describe an extensive exchange of communications between Chetan and Siya between 1 January and 18 June 2026. Investigators reported that recorded calls and other checks showed frequent contact over that period. Law enforcement also reviewed CCTV footage from a café where Siya and Chetan had met on the morning of 18 June 2026; the footage was cited by police during the probe.

Investigators allege that the incident at Lohagad Fort was not accidental and that a conspiracy to cause Ketan’s death was planned. CCTV near the foothills reportedly captured a hooded man following Siya and Ketan; police sources say they compared that footage with publicly available images and identified the man as Chetan. Authorities arrested Chetan on 23 June 2026 during a raid by the Local Crime Branch, and Siya was later taken into custody as well. Both were charged under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita with murder and criminal conspiracy.

Following arrest, a Pune district court placed Chetan in police custody for seven days to assist with questioning and to reconstruct aspects of the alleged crime scene. During the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, Chetan and Siya made conflicting statements, each accusing the other of responsibility for the events that led to Ketan’s death. Chetan’s legal counsel stated in the media that he was innocent and argued that the FIR and the available CCTV footage did not establish his specific role.

Latest updates

Media coverage around the case has continued since the arrests, with official statements and court appearances forming the primary public record. At the time of the most recent update in the available material, investigators were pursuing the evidence and the legal process was ongoing.
