Chinmay Deepak Mandlekar was born on 2 February 1979 in Nashik, Maharashtra, and grew up in a Marathi family that later settled in Mumbai. He attended St. Sebastian Goan High School and went on to study commerce at M L Dahanukar College in Mumbai. He also trained at the National School of Drama and holds a diploma in production. From his teenage years he was active in theatre, appearing in stage plays from about age 15 and later writing and acting in Marathi productions such as Bechaki and Sukhanshi Bhandto Aamhi.

Mandlekar’s screen career spans Marathi and Hindi projects across theatre, television, film and web series. He made his Marathi television debut with Vaadalavat in 2005 and moved into films with appearances in Marathi cinema, including roles in Jogwa (2009), Krantiveer Rajguru (2010), Gajaar (2011), Morya (2011), Mokala Shwas (2012) and Hou De Jarasa Ushir (2012). His Marathi film debut is listed as Zenda (2010), in which he played Avinash Mohite.

In Hindi cinema, Mandlekar appeared early on in Tere Bin Laden (2010) and later in Shanghai (2012) as SSP Chavan. Subsequent Hindi film credits noted include Mokssh (2013), Sameer (2017) and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018). On television he has been seen in the Marathi show Tu Tithe Me in 2014, where he played the lead role of Satyajit Mudholkar, and he also appeared in Crime Patrol in 2018 as a police inspector.

Mandlekar has taken on historical and biographical roles in Marathi cinema, portraying Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Fatteshikast (2019) and reprising the role in Pawankhind (2022). He transitioned to streaming with a role as Vikram Bhosale in the MX Player series Ek Thi Begum (2020).
